US Delegation to the 9th International Conference on Women in Physics 2027

The ninth International Conference for Women in Physics of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics will be held 7-11 June 2027 at National University, Singapore. Every country is invited to send a delegation of five people to attend. Delegations create a country poster about the status of women in physics in their country. Individual delegates also present their own research poster.

The ICWIP is not your typical physics conference! The focus is on supporting women across the globe in their pursuit of physics. Parallel workshops over several days end with development of suggestions to IUPAP to support women in physics. See the conference FAQs for more information.

The US delegation will involve 5 people of broad backgrounds, career stages, and lived experiences. Everyone is eligible to apply. In the past, delegations have included students, postdocs, men-identifying physicists, and high school teachers.

US delegates will work before the conference on the US country poster, individual research posters, and plans on how best to take advantage of attending the conference. During the conference, delegates will attend keynotes, parallel workshop sessions, poster sessions, and social events. After the conference, delegates are expected to share what they learned with others via presentations, publications, social media, and other venues.

To apply, please first read the expectations for delegates. Then prepare the following materials (text only, no uploads).

  • What has been your previous engagement and activity to advance women in physics/science and how do you plan to contribute to the success of the conference and to follow-up in the United States? How do you expect your participation in this conference will contribute to your future career success? (250 word limit)

(d) A draft of your research poster abstract. Note: you may submit more than one abstract, and both traditional physics research as well as gender & science research is welcome. (150 word limit)
